A WHOLE HISTORY
But in fact, what does BBS mean?
BBS are the initials of Barrau Business Systems, which bring together the three components of our identity:
- Barrau, in tribute to our predecessors, founders of the company, and to our territorial roots. Indeed, in the 1890s, Maison Barrau was a bakery. It then became a trading counter under the name Barrau & Cie, in partnership with the Barrau, Daly and Ollivaud families. It was a true institution among the people of New Caledonia, who could find everything they needed there, a bit like our Galeries Lafayette.
- Business, because BBS exclusively serves the professional market (B2B), with tailor-made offers adapted to the needs of its clients, and a clear objective: improving their performance.
- Systems, for Information Systems (IT Systems), which represent our DNA and our core business, the one for which you trust us.
Since its creation, BBS has constantly evolved in order to support technological changes and the needs of companies:
- 1963: creation of Barrau Bureau. With the rise of electronics, the company marketed the first copying machines (the Ronéo) as well as cash registers.
- 1983: Barrau Bureau entered the IT market with the first PC from IBM, of which BBS would later become the local representative.
- 1998: Barrau Bureau accelerated its transformation into a service company and became BBS – Barrau Business Systems.
- From 2017 onwards: the new management instilled a dynamic of transformation with several structuring projects: new visual identity, new premises, international expansion, and development of new offers. This desire for innovation continues to guide our growth today.
2024–2026: A New Milestone for BBS
As New Caledonia goes through a pivotal and challenging period in its history, BBS continues its development with three major initiatives:
1- Towards New Horizons: Expansion in the Pacific
BBS takes a new step by opening a secondary office in Papeete, aiming to be closer to its clients, accelerate regional projects, and offer services tailored to local realities.
This ambition accelerated with the acquisition of SRS Consulting in August 2025, a strategic move that enables:
- accelerating our growth in Polynesia
- expanding our regional coverage
- strengthening our areas of expertise
BBS thus becomes a structured regional player, serving businesses across the Pacific.
2- RESADIA: “Serving the Collective”
BBS becomes a member of the RESADIA group, the leading French network of IT and telecom service providers, created through the association of 30 national and overseas Digital Services Companies.
RESADIA notably includes:
- 150 points of presence
- nearly 2,000 employees
- over 80,000 clients
This partnership gives BBS new momentum:
- access to expanded offerings (cloud, network, unified communications, perimeter security…)
- pooled purchasing
- access to high-level expertise and certifications
- additional opportunities in public-sector markets (UGAP, CANUT, UniHA…)
In return, BBS brings to RESADIA:
- its local and regional expertise
- its capacity to deliver “follow the sun” services
- its influence across the Pacific

3- Cybersecurity: A Strategic Pillar of Our Development

In 2025, BBS reached a major milestone in cybersecurity by obtaining the
ExpertCyber label,
issued by Cybermalveillance.gouv.fr.
BBS is the first New Caledonian company to receive this recognition, which highlights providers demonstrating technical expertise and high-quality cybersecurity services, ensuring clients benefit from professional guidance.
This certification is part of the ongoing development of our CyberSecurity by BBS offering, which combines:

- and 24/7 intervention capability

Integrated cybersecurity from the project design phase
Security is not optional: it is considered from the start and natively integrated into every architecture.
BBS currently has 40 employees. We have two service centers, the first in charge of supervision, operation and administration of IT infrastructures. The second is dedicated to supporting user work environments. We have also strengthened our project department, which now numbers five people. Their aim: to make your information systems more agile and efficient. We integrate the cyber-security component right from the project design stage, to guarantee the continuity and resilience of your information systems.
We host our customers’ infrastructures and applications in the two most advanced data centers in the region.
To carry out all these activities, we draw inspiration from current best practices, whether ITIL for support activities, or DevOps, AGILE or LEAN for project management.
Since 2022, five new entities have been created. They respond to the new challenges facing companies:

For the intelligent collection and management of enterprise data and the promotion of Open Source solutions. APID stands for Alternative Projects for Intelligence in Data.

Integration of business solutions such as CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System), EDM (Electronic Document Management) and relational database management.
